animal crossing - i'm playing through new horizons and pocket camp! my favorite characters are the able sisters, and my favorite villagers are merengue, gayle, and sherb!

strawberry shortcake - i love all the shows, but i grew up on berry bitty adventures! my favorite character is blueberry muffin.

hello kitty - didn't watch any hello kitty stuff as a kid, but i am getting into it now and love it!

Decided to hop on the Aya lore train! If you play/used to play Animal Crossing, what villagers do/did you have?

i got all my villagers off a top ten animal crossing villager list in like... may of 2021? i usually just go with whatever's the most popular, which isn't really the best because trends come and go so fast, but after taking some time to think about it i really came to like them. even though most of them fell out of style.

both my sisters and i had a whole war going on with this random pig. he would come to our islands and refuse to leave. we're convinced it was the same guy too. he stood in the way of our villager hunting endeavors and we even performed rituals (aka just chanting "i'll eat porkchops" over and over until he left. yes, his name is chops.).

i've only "finished" (in the heaviest quotations imaginable because technically you can't finish it...) animal crossing new horizons. i recently acquired my old nintendo 3ds back after not playing on it for like a decade, i think? bought some cards (nintendogs, dragon quest, pokemon mystery dungeon, etc) and i'm starting to play them whenever i have the time to! they're quite good so far!

Random ACNH Headcanons

(Mostly mental illness/ND related oops)

• Sherb has anxiety, dyslexia and possibly autism. He loves bugs and plushies but is too afraid to talk about them to anyone except Filbert, who has adhd and autism and has a special interest in bugs.

• Sherb, Filbert and Jeremiah often have sleepovers where they eat pizza, watch movies and play games.

• Raymond and Sasha both have TikTok. Raymond has used it for ages and got popular, but Sasha came along and is getting popular really quickly. They have a friendly rivalry.

• Bunnie also has TikTok and she has a decent following, but she isn’t as popular as Raymond or Sasha. Sasha often collaborates with her though because they’re best friends and Bunnie is the one who thought to tell Sasha about it.

• All three also have their own YouTube channels. Sasha and Bunnie often do challenges like “best friend does my makeup”. Despite their rivalry, Sasha and Raymond also do a lot of collabs.

• Raymond has ocd which sometimes causes him to be unable to leave his home. Most of the villagers don’t know about this and assume the days he stays in are to make videos or do fashion shoots, but Marshal is over his out often and eventually found out. He helps Raymond as best he can with it, even if that just means quietly being in the room with him.

• Marshal has bpd. Usually his anger is directed inwards though. One time Raymond visited and saw Marshal curled up and punching his tail. Marshal explained his condition and Raymond was very supportive.

• And/or maybe Sasha has bpd?

• Marshal has insomnia and Sherb has narcolepsy.

• Punchy has aspd mayhaps? He also has dpdr.

Daydreaming thought. I was imagining the villagers on my island, Monique, Coco, Dom, Raymond, Marshal, Sherb, Walker, Chief and Judy, in a modern AU. They all live in apartment, each of them paying rent for their room, the house is owned by Dobie.

My dumb headcanon ages:

Raymond, Marshal and Coco are 19.

Dom is 20.

Sherb and Walker are 17.

Monique is 24.

Judy is 27.

Chief is 32.

Dobie is 46.

My dumb headcanons:

Raymond and Marshal work as baristas in a small cafe to pay for their college tuitions. Cause of their charms, the cafe gains more attraction.

Monique has multiple modelling gigs, rarely anyone sees her, she tries to make time for the others in the apartment, especially Judy.

Sherb and Walker beg Marshal for discounts at the cafe because "We're best friends! Soul mates!" Coco always rushes in after, dragging them out.

Chief is a tired history university teacher who has to deal with a bunch of loud young adults in Uni and at the apartment. Can't construct a sentence in front of Judy.

Coco is literally the only normal one there, she works as a retail worker, quite self conscious of her appearance as it scares her fellow employees and customers yet powers through it. Mild crush on an employee called Bunnie. Literally a sweetheart to everyone, the only one Dobie can tolerate.

Dom. Fucking. Can't. He blasts loud upbeat dubstep music at 5am while doing a thousands bench presses. No one knows how he can shove all that exercise equipment into his room, quarantine is getting to him. Coco can't bring herself to tell Dom to cease because of his adorable face but, Judy doesn't have any problem.

Everyone is scared of Dobie. Okay, they're scared of doing something stupid in front of him because he'd happily kick their asses out. He does have a soft spot to him yet he's usually in a bad mood eating his cornflakes at 12am. Coco usually sits with him for his wisdom. If anyone else does this, they want something. Aka, Walker who keeps hinting at a popcorn maker or Raymond muttering about a 3D printer he always wanted.

Sherb at this time, is in the closet, he wants to tell Walker, his closest friend there but is nervous about his reaction as it's all new to him. Monique is openly Bi, she wouldn't hesitate to teasingly flirt with any gender and state her preferences casually. Raymond.. Is the "What if we made out, dude? HAHAHA JK... unless..?" Type of in the closet yet, everyone knows he's bi. Marshal is a gayer than a box of crayons, that's it. Chief, Judy and Dobie are straight as a fiddle. I'd like to think that Dom is pansexual, I genuinely don't know why but it suits him.

Dobie's house rules:

-Sherb and Walker can't have alcohol, no matter how persistent they be, do NOT give the excited crackheads liquor.

-No loud sounds after 11pm and before 9am, thank you, Dom.

-Each person must do a different chore every week. So the house doesn't become a garabge dump. Walker has been skipping chores for the last 4 weeks and Dom is forbidden to do the dishes. Don't ask.

a letter i wrote this morning to my college counsellor this morning 💫

I'm not looking forward to going back into college but there isn't much I can do except move forward. I recently purchased some desk planners so I can plan out my day and my week rather than not do much and feel underachieved for the next few days. These planners remind me to track my drinking and eating habits and plan out some work tasks and some life tasks as well as small notes to myself which I usually put a positive affirmation quote.

I've been finding online lessons just as difficult for specific classes. I have internet difficulties, but I also feel like every time I sit in a lesson the work is to read and make notes, so I feel like I'm not taking anything in but instead just working rather than learning. I feel like because of this I'm worried I won't get into university which is my end goal for this year. All I need is three Cs, and I emailed my lecturers to tell them. My RS lecturer says I need to complete all my overdue essays which is what I'm doing (slowly but surely), my psychology lecturer says my predicted grade is a D, but she won't know what I'll get at the end of the year, and my criminology lecturer hasn't replied yet.

In my spare time I've been going to work which is stressful because we must keep to covid restrictions in such a tiny space. I also must deal with interacting with hundreds of people in one shift which makes me more anxious. I had a bad cough a month ago and kept having panic attacks at the idea of coughing in public. I try to stop myself from coughing which meant my throat would close and I'd panic more. I had to say goodbye to my manager who got a new job so now I've got a new one. It was sad and I got her a card but even though I knew she was leaving a month before hand; I was still upset. However, I have been able to acknowledge that nothing in life is permanent, even a manager at a fast food restaurant. I know that I will have to say goodbye to everything and so I feel like that has made me emotionally tone deaf because I am not good with dealing with emotions of another person, so I seem to come across and cold-hearted. I don't know how to process these emotions of loss, grief, and those negative feelings. I'll cry but I feel like there's no genuine sadness behind it because I know that's the way that life is. I know when I cry because I'm sad it's usually because I'm angry because I can't get it together. I also have never had any way of getting anger out apart from crying. My younger sister will get physical, and my oldest sister will curse the house down, my mum will throw things at walls or to the floor. I just sit there and cry. 

Anyways, I also got a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, so I've been playing animal crossing which is a good game. Well, the actual gameplay is awful, but the concept and the characters are amazing. I have tried to stop myself from playing all the time, but I enjoy it too much. I like the interaction with the characters in the game and I like to sit and chat to them. They also give very good advice, for example one of my characters Molly recently said, "You seem exhausted. I care about you a lot, so if it's true that you're having a hard time, know I'm here for you, quackidee". I got a little emotional about this statement because it's so raw despite coming from a character who is literally a duck. Also, one of my characters Sherb was leaving my island and said, "I also find it to be quite sad when someone says goodbye in a situation but then I saw on TV that there was something different. No, what TV folks do is... they smile... and they say, 'I'll see you later!'. So that's why... I'll see ya later!" I never realised that a game like this was going to make mem feel so much. I think I found comfort in this game and these characters because even though they are fictional and whatnot, they have some words of wisdom and very funny one liner that make me feel a lot less alone in a time that if full of loneliness. I also had to get a blood test to find out I'm vitamin D deficient and I must take four pills within an hour every morning. I hat swallowing pills, so I've started mixing up my pills with my food which is a tip I read online that seems to work really well. Despite trying to get my life together, I still feel like I'm getting nowhere in my life.

o lord dont get me started on the dialogue.. and how much they changed the villager personalities?? why are crankies old men??? why are peppys pop star wannabes??? why do jocks never shut up about being a jock?? why are lazy villagers so GROSS??? they never used to be like this??? 🥲🥲

literally, the villagers redeem themselves w the way they interact with things yES.. when they like.. look around at everything as they walk, and stop and turn to face the thing, and they make the ‘😯’ expression.. ITS FREAKING PERFECT. its so god damn cute.. especially when they run to the thing they wanna interact with!!!!

and SINGING oh GOD !!! i will never get over them singing!! no matter how many times my villagers sing, i will always 100000% cry over it,, its so adorable, and probably my favourite thing about the game shdhd

ur so correct every single thing you said is tea-im very thankful that my fav personality type has always been snooty bc imo its the most tolerable this time, they seem the most well rounded... but LAZYS hurt me so MUCH my poor babies beau and sherb wont shut up about bugs, like nooooo sherb u have the cute set furniture items theres no bugs in ur house i dont get it, and i only have a jock bc im a player who likes to have 1 of each type but theyre so irritating with their 3 lines of dialogue, thankfully merry is my peppy and she doesnt talk too much abt being a popstar so my annoyance with peppys has died down since my first 2 peppys i had on my island and i dont mind the crankys being old men as much since i kinda always got that vibe from most of them anyways

ive always seen the weird shift as them trying to group the types into age categories to sell the game better to kids and much older people, the harvest moon remake for friends of mineral town did a similar thing where they made all their datable npcs to rep different age groups so everyone who played it wouldnt be shackled into dating a 20 smth year old and like 1 30 smth like u do in most romancable games, but in the process they made a really beloved character super annoying and babyish, and that feels very similar to what happened here- like lazys are kids, peppys are tweens, jocks are teens, uchi are early to mid 20s, smug feels late 20s early 30s, snooty i cant really place but they are mature for sure def a bit older, cranky is like old dad/grandpa ofc, and normal types might be the least age defined but theyre clearly meant to be motherly. whereas in past games they were all ageless minus dobie who is drawn to specifically look old

but yeah my fav part is ive noticed that each villager has their own food they deault to or a spot they default sit at and its so heartwarming it feels like they have a schedule and routine. it makes my heart so full to see my baby diana reading with her glasses by the waterfalls or to see zell eating a doughnut beside the river infront of his house im so🥰🥰🥰 thinking about it and YES the singing theres certain ones who sing more and so when the ones who are more shy and dont sing usually do sing i like cry and ill clap for them and they get shy and i just ahhhhhh <333

anyways im replying to this a day late bc ive taken so long to get this rant out lmaoo, thank u for yelling in my askbox abt this i always welcome passionate rants- im a triple virgo please lets have heated discussions about seemingly unimportant things its my fav thing to do esp if its smth like animal crossing that ive spent a long time stanning
